This webinar will provide critical information to prepare community groups in their census education outreach efforts in Orange County.
California and the Inland Empire, in particular, hold one of the highest hard-to-count (HTC) populations. The stakes of accurately counting these populations are extremely high. An under-count could result in the loss of a congressional seat for California and billions of dollars in federal funding for our state and local communities. It could also result in unfair political representation, since census counts are used to redraw political districts at the federal, state and local levels
TCE has partnered with Advancement Project California to carry out a one-hour 2020 census webinar tailored to Orange County. The webinars will include, but not limited to:
• Regionally-relevant information on the State’s allocation of $90.3 million to support census outreach efforts
• Data on HTC populations in our region
• What community-based organizations and other nonprofits can do to ensure a full count of our communities
The webinar’s purpose is to ignite conversations about how the census impacts our communities; connect groups to engage and coordinate efforts to support census outreach; and inform about the latest information on pressing issues such as funding for community outreach and the citizenship question, among others.
